Ending Poverty
our work
Addressing poverty is a marathon, not a sprint. RMAPI has adopted an approach to fighting poverty that has proven to be successful in other communities across North America.
RMAPI and partners across the community have undertaken a number of efforts to address poverty and its root causes in Rochester.
Bridges to Success
In 2016, Bridges to Success was selected as the first public offering from Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative (RMAPI),a community-wide effort to help people achieve financial security and prosperity.
Level Up Champions
RMAPI’sLevel Up Champion recognition program shines a light on organizations that have made commitments to wage enhancements and encourages them to adopt more best practices that help for people affected by poverty
RMAPI 2022 Policy Agenda
The Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative (RMAPI) has developed a list of policy priorities for 2022 with actions aimed at addressing the root causes of poverty. These policy priorities were developed by RMAPI’s Policy Working Group after months of meetings with local experts, community and government leaders, representatives from non-profit agencies, and people directly impacted by poverty to determine which actions would be most effective and are most needed to address poverty.
Systems Integration Project
Another outgrowth of RMAPI’s work is the Systems Integration Project, which aims to putpeople at the center of care in an interconnected system of education, health, and human services. By coming together as a community, we will improve the health and economic well-being of individuals and families in Monroe County, especially those who are vulnerable and/or impacted by poverty.
