RMAPI CIVIC INFLUENCER INITIATIVE
The Civic Influencer Initiative is RMAPI’s reimagined Community Engagement Strategy, designed to amplify the voices of Rochester residents with lived experience navigating poverty and inequity. This initiative equips individuals with tools and support to actively engage in civic conversations and contribute to equitable solutions, empowering them to share their perspectives and drive meaningful change.
Structured as a transformative 18-month experience, the Civic Influencer (Male Cohort) Initiative offers participants 6 months learning experience followed by a practice (fellowship) year. This approach provides a comprehensive framework for residents to deepen their knowledge and apply their lived expertise to address systemic challenges effectively.
During the Learning experience, participants will engage in a series of workshops focused on building essential skills in civic engagement, advocacy, and community involvement. These workshops will provide the tools and knowledge to effectively navigate and contribute to the civic landscape.
In the Practice (Fellowship) Year, participants engage in structured opportunities that serve as pathways for civic engagement, building on the knowledge, skills, and insights developed during the Learning Experience. Participants are empowered to determine how they will apply their learning, whether through participation in leadership spaces, community-based initiatives, or other collaborative efforts aligned with their interests and goals. This phase is designed to translate learning into action, allowing participants to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Participants in the initiative will take part in four workshops focused on building skills in civic engagement, advocacy, and community involvement. They will receive a $150 honorarium for each workshop, personalized guidance from a Pathways Coach, and access to resources and networks that foster personal and professional growth. This initiative goes beyond training, offering participants a chance to leverage their experiences, amplify their voices, and collaborate on solutions tailored to their communities’ needs. The program will culminate in a special graduation ceremony on December 2027, celebrating the continuation of their impactful civic journey.
Who Should Apply?
